HUMANS CRAVE TOUCH.

Without touch we become withdrawn and isolated. Touch is a comfort to people who find
themselves in pain, stressed, overworked, or in times of emotional distress.

Relaxation Massage communicates to the mind, body and the soul. It calms the nervous system reducing anxiety and stress, increases blood and lymphatic activity, and decreases muscle and connective tissue tension.

Remedial Massage promotes changes within our soft tissue structures thus engaging the body’s natural healing systems. It is great for post acute soft tissue injuries, and for relieving symptoms of chronic pain.

Massage is a simple action with a profound effect. Try it for yourself and discover what it can achieve for your body.

At CARM Therapies we offer a range of Massage Therapy Techniques to cater for your body’s individual needs.

Treatments may be a combination of techniques, depending on your particular presenting circumstances, and what you want to achieve from the treatment.

A qualified, friendly therapist will take you through an initial assessment and talk to you about your treatment options, taking the time to explain things in a clear manner so that you can feel confident in the treatment you receive.

Whether you just want to relax, or have a chronic niggling injury or condition treated, CARM Therapies’ Remedial Massage therapists can create a treatment plan that is right for you.

Types of Massage Therapy Offered at CARM Therapies

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a hands on, evidence based approach to treating soft tissue injuries/conditions and postural imbalances.

During your treatment your therapist will do an assessment of your posture, your movement capabilities and your current pain levels. They will also ask you questions, relating to your presenting symptoms, which will help them to tailor a treatment specific to your particular needs.

Your therapist will use a combination of Remedial Massage techniques over the course of your treatment. These techniques have been developed specifically to:

• Break up scar tissue and adhesions
• Lengthen shortened or over active muscles
• Activate and strengthen long or weak muscles
• Reduce/de-activate Trigger Point activity
• Decrease neural and connective tissue tension
• Decrease hypersensitivity pain responses
• Ultimately, make your body aware of its imbalances so that it can initiate its own healing systems

Remedial Techniques include: Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release, PNF Stretching, Shifting (or Active/Passive Tissue Tension), DTF (Deep Transverse Frictions), Heat and Ice Therapy, Taping techniques.

Your therapist will then recommend stretches and simple home exercises designed not only to increase the benefit of your treatment, but to teach you how to better understand and manage your pain.

Try Remedial Massage for your long term health and wellbeing.

Relaxation Massage

Relaxation Massage is one of the oldest know therapies. Combining flowing, rhythmic strokes, this type of massage aims to rejuvenate and calm the mind, body and soul. De-stress, unwind and float away into a state of blissful rest.

Relaxation Massage is great for people who have high stress lifestyles, or who suffer from anxiety or depression, as it has been proven to reduce nervous system activity, increase Serotonin and Dopamine levels (happy hormones) whilst decreasing Cortisol levels (stress hormone), resulting in calmer mood, improved productivity, reduced blood pressure and better sleep patterns in many clients.

Fantastic as a personal ‘R-n-R’ treat, Relaxation Massage has health benefits for everyone.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy is a very special time! When you’re pregnant you deserve special attention whether it’s for pain management or simply a pampering session. Talk to your therapist if you have a specific problem, or simply lie down and relax while your therapist does the rest!

At CARM Therapies, we cater for massage therapy during all stages of pregnancy, recognising that there are specific needs for treating a pregnant client.

Massage Therapy during pregnancy is very safe, beneficial and enjoyable, as long as certain guidelines are followed.

It is very important for you to tell your therapist if you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are trying to conceive.

When you (confidentially) inform your therapist of your current state, they can take extra steps to ensure you receive the best possible care during all stages of your pregnancy journey.

Extra precautions for therapists to take into account include:

  • Seated or side lying options for your comfort
  • Clearance from GP may be required if complicated conditions are present

We know that there is a lot of confusing information out there about what is and isn’t safe during pregnancy, so rest assured that we use only the best, pregnancy friendly, oils during our Massage treatments.

Common pregnancy related complaints that Massage Therapy may help relieve include:

  • Calf Cramping
  • Lower Back pain
  • Headaches
  • Neck and shoulder tension
  • Fatigue
  • General aches and pains
  • Fluid retention
  • Hip and Gluteal Pain
  • Sciatica

Becoming a mum is an important job, and CARM Therapies is here to support you every step of the way!
